Tan Son Nhat Airport is at the north end of HCMC, about 7 miles from the city center.

Taxi Cabs: Taxi’s are readily available outside the baggage claim area. The fare should be about $5.00 USD (77,000 VND). Return trips can be arranged by your hotel.

Mini Busses: Mini Buses can be found outside baggage claim also. You can expect to pay about $4.00 USD per person to the city center.

Customs/Duty Free:

Tobacco: 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 250g of tobacco

Alcohol: 1 liter of wine or liquor

Film: Unlimited amount of film

Cash: Not more than $10,000.00 USD. No local currency may be exported.

Antiques: Can be confiscated permanently.

High Ticket Items: Require export permits from customs service.

Warning! Items that could be deemed pornographic (photos, books, magazines, etc) can cause the individual a lot of headaches. The material will be confiscated, you will be detained, and you will be subject to a hefty fine (up to $2,000 USD for one video tape). Remember it doesn’t have to be pornographic material, it just has to be deemed it by the inspector and Vietnam is a different country with different views.
